Building Strong Foundations – KingGee & Carpentry Australia Backing Tradies’ Health

August is National Tradies Health Month – a time to spotlight the physical and mental wellbeing of the people who keep Australia running. Among them are carpenters, builders, and apprentices whose skills shape our homes, businesses, and communities. But being a tradie isn’t just hard work on the tools – it can also be physically demanding, mentally challenging, and, for many sole traders, isolating.  That’s where Carpentry Australia comes in.

About Carpentry Australia

For over 12 years, Carpentry Australia has been the national voice for carpenters, supporting tradespeople from their first days as apprentices through to becoming established business owners. Their role goes beyond industry representation – they create a sense of community and pride in the trade by offering:

  • Industry representation and advocacy
  • Business resources and training
  • Health, safety, and wellbeing guidance
  • A strong community for what can often be a solitary profession

“At Carpentry Australia, our goal is to connect and support carpenters at every stage of their journey. Partnering with KingGee helps us do exactly that, providing quality gear while creating meaningful opportunities to engage, learn, and strengthen community across the profession.”
— Matthew Spencer, Carpentry Australia

KingGee & Carpentry Australia – A Partnership Built to Last

For more than five years, KingGee has proudly partnered with Carpentry Australia, helping them connect with the next generation of tradies. Our support includes:

  • Supplying high-quality workwear and footwear to members and apprentices
  • Monetary contributions to support programs and events
  • Joint BBQs, giveaways, and networking days at worksites and trade schools every 6–8 weeks
  • Collaborating on initiatives that promote safety, wellbeing, and pride in the trade

At the heart of this partnership is a shared commitment to supporting the next generation of carpenters – giving apprentices the chance to learn, experience, and wear genuine gear from KingGee and FUZE by KingGee (exclusive to Totally Workwear).

This alignment is no accident: KingGee’s DNA – performance, leadership, innovation, comfort and protection – underpins everything we create, ensuring tradies have the confidence and protection to perform at their best.

“We’re excited to continue building on this momentum with KingGee and exploring new opportunities to support carpenters nationwide together.”
— Matthew Spencer, Carpentry Australia

On the Ground – The 6 August Event

Most recently, we joined Carpentry Australia for a BBQ with apprentices – part of their regular program to connect with future tradies, offer advice, and create a sense of belonging while they’re still learning and earning.

These days are about more than just food and giveaways – they’re a chance to connect with apprentices and tradies at the coalface, hear their feedback, and put product into the hands of the people who rely on it day to day. It’s about sparking conversations, sharing knowledge, and making sure our tradies know they’re supported.

“This simple but powerful gesture highlighted KingGee’s commitment to inclusivity and showed our members what it means to ensure every carpenter feels equipped and supported.”
— Matthew Spencer, Carpentry Australia

Tradies National Health Month – Why It Matters

Tradies are among the most physically active workers, but they also face some of the highest rates of injury and mental health challenges. National Tradies Health Month is a timely reminder of the importance of safety, injury prevention, and mental wellbeing.

Together with Carpentry Australia, KingGee is committed to ensuring every tradie has the gear, resources, and community they need to thrive – and to inspiring future generations to perform at their best.
