KingGee Marks 100 Years of Trusted Workwear
At Workwear Group, we’re proud to be home to a portfolio of iconic heritage Australian brands, each with its own legacy, purpose and impact. In 2026, we celebrate a major milestone for one of those brands — KingGee.

What do KingGee, Qantas, Vegemite and Arnott’s have in common?
They are all Australian icons that have stood the test of time, brands that have become part of the fabric of the nation.
2026, marks 100 years of KingGee , a remarkable milestone for a brand that has supported generations of Australian workers and helped shape the story of workwear in this country.
Founded in Sydney in 1926 by Robert Adcock, KingGee began with a clear purpose: to create garments built to withstand the demands of real work. From the very beginning, the brand focused on durability, quality and practicality — values that continue to define KingGee today.
Over the decades that followed, KingGee earned the trust of workers across industries including construction, trades, logistics and infrastructure. For many Australians, the brand became synonymous with reliable, hard-wearing gear built for the realities of the job.
Today, KingGee stands as one of Australia’s most established and recognisable workwear brands — a legacy built on a century of supporting the people who help build and keep the country moving.
Honouring the Brand’s Origins
As part of the milestone, the team also took the opportunity to engage with the Adcock family, tracing the descendants of founder Robert Adcock and spending time hearing stories about the early history of the brand.

Visiting with the family and hearing their reflections offered a powerful reminder of the people and the history behind the brand’s beginnings.
We were honoured to include the Adcock family in the celebrations marking this historic moment — recognising the vision that first brought KingGee to life a century ago.
A special message from Robert Adcock Jnr, grandson of the founder, was also shared as part of the celebrations.
Celebrating With the People Behind the Brand
Reaching 100 years was also an opportunity to celebrate with the people who continue to bring the KingGee brand to life today.
Teams across Workwear Group offices and distribution centres throughout Australia and New Zealand marked the celebrations, sharing in the pride of reaching such a significant moment in the brand’s history.
At Workwear Group’s Port Melbourne headquarters, employees gathered for a celebration reflecting on the journey of the brand across the past century.
The event was a powerful reminder of the collective pride shared across our teams who continue to support and shape the KingGee brand today.

Looking Ahead to the Next Chapter
While the milestone celebrates an extraordinary history, for the design team, continuing the legacy means building on the brand’s heritage while continuing to innovate for the future.
As KingGee enters its second century, the focus remains the same as it was when Robert Adcock first founded the brand in 1926 — creating workwear built to perform, built to last and built for the people who wear it.
A Legacy That Continues
One hundred years after its founding, KingGee remains a leader in Australia’s workwear story.
It is a legacy shaped by the vision of its founder, the generations of workers who have worn the brand, and the teams who continue to drive it forward today.
A century on, the KingGee legacy continues, and at Workwear Group we are incredibly proud to commemorate this milestone and continue building on it as the brand enters its next chapter.

Building Strong Foundations – KingGee & Carpentry Australia Backing Tradies’ Health
August is National Tradies Health Month – a time to spotlight the physical and mental wellbeing of the people who keep Australia running. Among them are carpenters, builders, and apprentices whose skills shape our homes, businesses, and communities. But being a tradie isn’t just hard work on the tools – it can also be physically demanding, mentally challenging, and, for many sole traders, isolating. That’s where Carpentry Australia comes in.
