Partnering for Purpose with The Big Issue: Creating Social and Sustainable Impact
Since 2022, Workwear Group has proudly partnered with The Big Issue to create meaningful social and environmental change. Now in its third year, this partnership continues to show how business can drive real impact for people and the planet.

Giving Uniforms a Second Life
Earlier this month, The Women’s Workforce – an initiative of The Big Issue Australia – worked with our team to decommission and recover obsolete customer uniforms. Six women were employed to remove swing tickets, PO labels, and other trims from garments that would have otherwise gone to waste. This simple but powerful work prepares the clothing for donation and reuse, reducing textile waste while creating paid employment and skills development for women experiencing disadvantage.
Where Sustainability Meets Social Impact
This project aligns with our commitment to finding new ways to support sustainable outcomes for customer uniforms. By partnering on initiatives like this, we help ensure that uniforms no longer in circulation are processed responsibly – supporting women while giving garments a new life beyond their original purpose.
The Women’s Workforce provides meaningful work opportunities for women who have faced barriers to employment – including those experiencing homelessness, family violence, or other forms of disadvantage. Through this initiative, participants gain:
✔️ Stable, paid employment in a supportive environment
✔️ On-the-job training and practical skills
✔️ Increased confidence and pathways to future opportunities
Looking ahead
At Workwear Group, we believe that when businesses partner with community organisations, small actions can create big, lasting benefits – for people, for community, and for the planet. We’re proud to continue this partnership and look forward to finding new ways to create positive change together.
